The southwest portion, by my definition would be south of Charleston and west of The Strip but would not extend into the newer areas up towards Summerlin or south towards Southern Highlands or Mountains’ Edge. This area developed somewhat later than the east side. Many housing options are available. There are some wonderful older areas such as Scotch 80’s and McNeil Estates just to the south of Charleston. South and west from these developments is the area in and around what is locally called “Section 10″. Homes in this area are usually larger customs built on larger lots of usually 1/2 acre or more. There has been some newer construction here, but most homes were built in the 1980’s and 1990’s in the Section 10 area.
Sprinkled throughout the general area are other developments of condos, townhomes and free standing homes. Some were built in the 1960’s and 1970’s with the newer construction further to the south and west. Proximity to the center or town and proximity to the considerable shopping options along most all the major streets running north and south through this area is unsurpassed elsewhere in the valley.
