Desert Shores – Oldie but goodie

Desert Shores is, in my opinion, somewhat of a “sleeper” in that it usually is not considered by most buyers. Perhaps should be. It is located between Lake Mead Dr. and Cheyenne Blvd. It is east of Rampart and West of Buffalo. I am always impressed when driving through Desert Shores. It is a beautiful community with lots of greenery. There are several developments here many of which are gated. Construction started here around 1988. The community was built-out around 1996. The most distinctive features here are the beautiful lakes. The recreation center features barbecue area, lagoon style pool, volley ball and a sandy beach. Both homes and condos are available. The condominium developments here include Desert Shores Racquet Club and Mar-A-Lago. There is a commercial center in Desert Shores with restaurants and other services. Many homes are within walking distance of these services. It is built on 700 acres with 3,300 homes. This is a beautiful community with many unique common area features.
The ambiance of Desert Shores set it apart from many of even the more popular of the newer planned communities. The downside for some would be the somewhat dated home styles.
It is bordered by Summerlin on two sides and has homes at competitive prices. The lifestyle is unique. When I visit this community I usually see residents fishing, boating, using the common area amenities or just going for a walk. Infrastructure is all around you with lots of shopping and services. Pueblo Park, which I regard as the nicest park in all of Summerlin, is right across the street from Desert Shores.
In the coming weeks and months I will do other posts on local planned communities, particularly ones that I feel are unique in their own ways and also, for whatever reason overlooked by many buyers. For more information on this community go to my Desert Shores page on my web site.
