The northwest portion of the Las Vegas Valley has changed much over the last several years. Prior to the 1990’s it was primarily an area of custom homes and horse properties. Now there are many other home options in the area, along with the customs. Silverstone Ranch, a large planned golf community has now been completed. Providence, the newest of all the larger planned communities in the area is open for sale and mostly completed. There is also a new planned community, Skye Canyon even farther north and west.
North Las Vegas borders this general area to the east. From there, moving to the west the elevation slowly rises into the foothills of the Spring Mountain Range. The higher up areas to the west are home to many custom homes on large lots. In the mid 1990’s there was virtually no infrastructure in the area. Now residents rarely have to leave the area to meet any type of need. Big box stores, restaurants and other shopping options are all available along the northern portion of the SR215 corridor.
If you like the mountains, you have some of the quickest access in the valley to the Mt. Charleston and Lee Canyon areas for both summer and winter activities and sports. The Floyd Lamb State Park at Tule Springs is in this area. It features the Tule Springs Ranch, Tule Springs Archeological Site and the Tule Springs Wash with four lakes for fishing. The Gilcrease Orchard is also in this area. It is run by a non-profit foundation. Families are invited during the growing season to pick their own fruit and vegtables.
